A quick getaway with the girls? Absolutely! As a former flight attendant with a best friend still traveling the friendly skies, we try to squeeze in some girl time when we can. So after kicking around a few ideas — Arizona, Cabo, the Keys? We decide to keep it a bit more local and head down to Savannah, Georgia to take on this historic coastal town full of architectural beauty and southern charm.

Let’s get down to the highlights!

My first suggestion with any kind of getaway is to try to lock down the best Airbnb location or experience you can find right away. We were able to book a gorgeous historical two-story apartment within walking distance to picturesque Forsyth Park in the heart of Savannah that was absolutely perfect.

Forsyth Park

Having the entire apartment to ourselves was such a great idea! It’s a much more intimate way to enhance your stay. It was spacious and charming and gave us a sense of actually living in Savanah. We were able to explore the neighborhood and we even booked a photographer through Airbnb as well for a fun 1-hour photoshoot around the prettiest sights throughout Forsyth Park.

The Collins Quarter

When we planned our trip, we all decided that I would fly down from NJ and my girlfriends drove down from Virginia so we could have a car available to us in case. The girls arrived a day earlier so as soon as I landed I ditched my bags at the apartment and we all headed straight to The Collins Quarter for mid-afternoon cocktails + brunch.

I highly recommend a visit if you’re looking for the cutest, most “Instagramable” brunch spot.

Savannah City Market

City Market was also one of our must-see sights. Spread out across four blocks and less than a mile southeast of River Street. The open-air marketplace features restored warehouses sheltering everything from restaurants to boutiques to art galleries.

When you’re not shopping, listening to live music, or enjoying a casual bite to eat, you can simply sit and people-watch. This area is also home to several bars, so it’s a great place to check out in the evenings. We didn’t get a chance this time but definitely next!

Tybee Island

On our second evening, we drove just a half-hour east of the Historic District to Tybee Island which is home to 5 miles of beautiful beachfront. We were there just in time for sunset and of course, I immediately jumped out of the car to capture this stunning sight.

Chartering a Sail Boat

In the spirit of saving the best for last! The true highlight of our girl’s trip was chartering a private sailboat on the last evening of our trip.

We came across this excursion on Airbnb as well; and although the listing indicated it had been sold out, my very savvy girlfriend contacted the company directly and was able to land us this amazing experience.

The weather throughout our trip had been incredible in April but that evening while sailing the Skidaway River it was absolutely breathtaking for all of us.

Honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect visiting Savannah, Georgia; but this trip really exceed all of our expectations. It really gave us a chance to experience a bit of everything this beautiful southern city has to offer.

It was a perfect girl’s getaway and I would definitely recommend booking a stay if you’ve never been! Now that travel opportunities are opening back up and Iโ€™m already planning our next adventureโ€ฆ and the next one is coming up really soon so stay tuned!
