If you were on the lookout for a getaway that exuded rustic charm with a boutique hotel feel, let me take you back to my recent experience at Hotel Mountain Brook. Nestled in Tannersville, NY, right in the heart of the Catskills, this place caught my eye from the get-go. The icicle-covered mountains and those impressive cliffs along the drive had me feeling both awestruck and overwhelmed in the best possible way.

Originally planned as a family trip, it took a turn and ended up as an impromptu girls-only adventure. Why the change? Well, the hubby couldn’t swing the whole two days off. Turns out, it was the best-unplanned decision ever!

My partner in crime, Elizabeth, and I make it a point to catch up whenever we can. We go way back to our days as flight attendants, meeting up at the American Airlines Academy in Ft. Worth, Texas, back in 2000. She wasn’t just an awesome friend but the ultimate travel buddy.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by the lovely Contessa at the front desk who welcomed us warmly. She kindly gave us a tour of the hotel, including the lounge area, which was impressively designed. We were immediately drawn to the “Choose Your Adventure” neon sign hanging next to a shuffleboard table, which created a great atmosphere. It was a great start to our stay.

Hotel Mountain Brook had a modern yet rustic feel that created a warm and welcoming community, thanks to Verdigreen designs. We felt these positive vibes throughout our tour, particularly in our room. The bed, chandelier, and trunk-style side tables were highlights of the coolest hotel room I’ve seen in a while.

Mornings were a treat. Imagine this: an incredibly delicious omelet, made to order, along with juices, coffee, a variety of tea, oats, almonds, and regular milk, all laid out like a masterpiece. There are easy snacks such as cereal, toast, and other options available for kids.

The hotel staff provided us with some excellent dinner recommendations in the town. We managed to get a table at Tabla – a family-owned restaurant that serves Spanish Mediterranean cuisine, and the menu was simply amazing. We also tried Pancho Villa and

Other great dining options in the area include Pancho Villa and New York Restaurant, both of which were great choices.

After dinner, we relaxed with our bottle of Melbac and played a few rounds of checkers by the grand fireplace. The atmosphere was cozy, laid-back, and the ideal setting to share all the latest gossip and catch up. If you’re looking for a great combination of rustic charm and boutique vibes, Hotel Mountain Brook is the place to be.

We enjoyed everything about Hotel Mountain Brook. The staff was amazing, the food was thoughtful and delicious, and the decor was unique and upscale without being stuffy.
