If you’re looking for a rustic escape with a boutique hotel vibe, Hotel Moutain Brook is a little gem in the heart of Tannersville, NY in the Catskills. From the beginning of our drive up, I was equally awestruck and overwhelmed by the gorgeous cascading icicle mountains with grand views of pretty some serious cliffs along the way.

Originally a family getaway, it became a girls-only escape when my husband wasn’t able to get away for the entire two days.

It actually worked out perfectly.

My girlfriend, Elizabeth and I try to get together whenever we can and enjoy reminiscing about our time together as flight attendants. We’ve been friends since we first met at the American Airlines Academy in Ft. Worth, Texas in 2000. She’s an amazing friend and perfect travel buddy.

As soon as we arrived at the lodge, Contessa greeted us warmly at the front desk. She gave us a tour around the hotel that included the lounge area. Of course, the cute and funky neon sign that read, “Choose Your Own Adventure”, alongside the shuffleboard table caught our eye right away. It was the perfect touch to set the tone.

As one of the Verdigreen designs, Hotel Mountain Brook has a modern but rustic and warm aesthetic rooted in community and we felt that energy throughout the hotel tour.

Our room decor was my favorite. The bed. The chandelier. The trunk-style side tables. It was so comfy and pretty much the coolest hotel room we’ve seen in a while.

The first morning we had an insanely delicious made-to-order omelet, our choice of juices, coffee, or assorted tea along with oat, almond, or regular milk. Everything was perfectly curated and displayed.

There was also cereal, toast, and some other easy options for kids which I thought was great for families with little ones.

The hotel staff also gave us a few tasty suggestions for dinner in town and we were lucky enough to snag a reservation at Tabla, a Spanish Mediterranean family-run spot that truly had the most delicious menu.

Other great dining options in the area include Pancho Villa and New York Restaurant.

In the evening after dinner, we enjoyed a little nightcap of our own bottle of melbac and a couple of rounds of checkers by the grand fireplace. It was cozy and easy and a perfect chance for us to catch up on all the “tea”, ha!

We loved everything about Hotel Mountain Brook. The staff was incredible, the food was thoughtful and delicious, and the decor was unique and upscale without being stuffy.

It’s also within a 10-minute drive to Hunter Mountain, which makes it pretty much a no-brainer when you’re looking for the ideal stay in the Catskills. Ready to experience it for yourself?? Book your upcoming experienceย HERE.
