<\/span>October, of course, is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, <\/span>so with the end of the month quickly approaching, I wanted to share my experience when I was recently invited by Saint Barnabas Medical Center<\/a>, an RWJBarnabas Health<\/a> facility, and in partnership with NJMOM<\/a> to view a striking exhibit showcasing breast cancer survivor stories. <\/span><\/div>\n

I’m familiar with the display from my visit last year, but it\u2019s always so moving to see it in person. I love that RWJBarnabas Health<\/a> and Saint Barnabas Medical Center<\/a> raise awareness in such an accessible space like the Grand Court at The Mall at Short Hills and reading each survivor’s featured story is incredibly inspiring not only to me, but to so many that travel through the grand display.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

This October, RWJBarnabas Health<\/span><\/a> and Saint Barnabas Medical Center<\/span><\/a> are promoting awareness with a fun “insta-worthy” challenge called the\u201cPink Lips Challenge\u201d<\/i><\/span>:<\/o:p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Send a kiss to someone you love and remind them its #TimeToMammo! Saint Barnabas Medical Center\u2019s \u201cPink Lips Challenge\u201d is a great reminder to your loved ones to schedule their mammogram.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Simply follow these steps:<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

  1. Visit SBMC\u2019s selfie station at their Breast Cancer Awareness display at The Mall at Short Hills<\/o:p><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Paint your lips PINK<\/o:p><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Blow a kiss to a loved one<\/o:p><\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Snap and post on social media and tag #TimeToMammo and, most importantly, schedule your mammogram at www.rwjbh.org\/mmamo<\/span><\/a><\/o:p><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Breast wellness starts at a young age and continues for a lifetime because cancer develops over a period of years and can be present before any symptoms appear. Establishing a pattern of an annual mammography, ongoing physical exams by your physician, and monthly breast self-examinations is the best way to take an active role in maintaining good breast health. <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

    Breast cancer awareness saves lives and uplifting exhibits like these are a wonderful incentive to expand the conversation and reach more women through social media. I\u2019m honored to join RWJBarnabas Health<\/a>, <\/span><\/a>Saint Barnabas Medical Center<\/a>, and NJMOM<\/a> to raise awareness for such an important conversation. Let\u2019s beat breast cancer together!<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
